Operation Poverty is a non-profit organization devoted to raising awareness for people stricken with poverty around the world and around our community. Our approach to this effort is to show the world our cause by representing those we help, in a very literal sense. THE OPERATION is an event where teenagers become impoverished for one week, continuing their daily lives but living on only $2 a day. The week long event involves your child staying with friends at a specified Host Home or designated location. Your child’s group will also have a Team Leader. Your Team Leader is the best person to contact to answer any of your questions.
What is it like? The Operation is strenuous. Students may exhibit hunger or fatigue during the week. Adults and medical professionals are on call at all times. Special care has been taken to ensure that regular activities like school, work, sports, and church are not effected. Dropping grades have at no point been an issue for anyone participating in Operation Poverty. Teachers, principals, and all other school staff will be notified when the Operation starts so that they can aptly prepare for the students.
Is it safe? Yes. Operation Poverty is in no way dangerous. There has never been an emergency or incident where EMS or parent pick-up was necessary. Safety is our first and constant concern during the Operation and we take extreme precautions to make sure that the campsite, the transportation, and the door-to-door fundraising are 100% safe and controlled.

Sponsorship Sponsorship is an option we provide to community organizations and business that want to contribute to Operation Poverty. Sponsorship does not have to involve money. In fact, it most often involves marketing. One of the things we need most is advertisement. A common practice for our sponsors is to put up posters and ads in their offices, clinics, waiting rooms, or other public areas that get the word out about Operation Poverty.
